Business education for Houston’s Jewish community

At the Jewish Business Club of Houston, Educatemeans practical, working knowledge: how to price your services, close a sale, read a P&L, hire your first employee, market without a big budget, and negotiate like you mean it. Not theory — the skills that decide whether a business makes payroll.

Why Houston specifically

Houston is one of the largest and fastest-growing Jewish communities in the South, and it’s an entrepreneurial city by nature — a place where people start companies in energy, real estate, medicine, logistics, retail, and the trades. But unlike older, denser Jewish business hubs in New York or Miami, Houston’s community is spread across a huge metro area — Meyerland, Fondren Southwest, West Houston, Katy, The Woodlands — and much of the business wisdom here stays locked inside individual families and firms.

The result: a talented young professional in Houston can grow up around successful Jewish business owners and still have no practical way to learn from them. There has been no regular, community-wide setting where that knowledge gets taught. That’s the gap.

What JBC is doing about it

  • Workshops on concrete skills — sales, marketing, finance, operations, negotiation — taught by people who use them daily.
  • Speaker events where established Houston business owners walk through how they actually built what they built, including the mistakes.
  • Q&A-driven formats — every session leaves room to bring your real situation and get real answers.

Education compounds fastest alongside our other two pillars: networking puts you in the room with people worth learning from, and mentorship turns a lesson into a habit.
